Q: How much does a website cost?: Each project and website varies in size, functionality, and design, so all my work is quoted on a per site basis. My typical website projects start at about $1,500 with basic hosting, however we can generally tailor an option for most budgets depending on requirements. Find out more here.
Q: Do you charge on-going costs?: No, the only on-going costs you will need to pay will be for domain name renewal and hosting. Unlike some other providers, I do not charge any monthly or annual fees after completion of the website unless you opt for “managed hosting”. The domain name and hosting renewals are very reasonably priced.
Q: How long does it take to design & build a website?: Like website pricing, this does depend on the size and complexity of the site. I find that most sites will generally be completed within 4 weeks, allowing time for me receiving all of the content from the client, designing the site, building the site, testing and handover. Delays in receiving the content are generally what holds up most jobs. If we are able to receive all required information (content, images etc) in a timely manner we can have the process completed within a week.
Q: What is the process?: The process starts with me obtaining information about your business, what you require from the website, and defining the project scope. I’ll issue a quote and Web Development Agreement, and once this is paid and the signed Agreement returned, I make a start on the design of the site. Upon approval of the design concept, I get to work building the site, then undertaking testing on my own server. I provide a link to the working site on my server for approval – once approved, the final invoice will be issued, and handover of the site occurs once the final payment has been received.
Q: What information will I have to provide you with for my website?: The information required will vary depending on the type of website, but typically will include your logo, the content for your web pages, and photos you may have that you wish to include on the site. If it is an online store, things like product names, SKU’s, prices, descriptions, images etc will be required also. I also send you a “New Client Questionnaire” before commencing the project to ascertain your requirements and likes/dislikes, so require this back also.
Q: Will my website work on mobiles and tablets?: Yes, all of the websites I create are “Responsive”, meaning they scale down accordingly for mobile and tablet devices. This allows for a better user experience on smaller devices, and means your site is able to be view easily regardless of the device.
Q: Can I update my website myself when it’s completed?: Yes, all of the websites I create are done so using a “Content Management System”, or CMS. This allows you to login to the website and update the content of the site – ie the content on the pages, and images in galleries etc.
Q: Do you provide training on how to use the Content Management System for my site?: Yes, I provide detailed written instructions on how to use your website once completed. I am also available via phone, email or can come to you should you have any queries that cannot be resolved.
Q: I am not very computer literate. Is the Content Management System easy to use?: Yes, the CMS is very easy to use following the instructions that will be provided with the website.
Q: Do you provide Search Engine Optimisation and Adwords services?: Yes, I can provide Search Engine Optimisation and Adwords management for your site also. Click on the relevant service to find out further information.
Q: Can I get you to do more work on my website or other project in the future?: Of course, I can quote you for additional work or perform smaller tasks at my hourly rate (I will provide an estimate of cost also). A Content Management System (CMS) is provided with most of my packages allowing you to update various aspects the website yourself, however I can also undertake updates on the site for you.
